Representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Moldova trained in the field of personal data protection
On April 1, 2026, the National Center for Personal Data Protection (NCPDP) organized a training course in the field of personal data protection for the employees of the Institute for Standardization of Moldova (ISM), at the request of the beneficiary institution. The activity was part of the continuous efforts of the NCPDP to promote a solid culture of data protection and to support national authorities and organizations in the correct application of the relevant regulatory framework.
The purpose of the training was to strengthen the theoretical and practical knowledge of the participants in the field of personal data protection, with an emphasis on the responsibilities of controllers, the basic principles of data processing, as well as on the correct application of legal requirements in the current activity of the institution. At the same time, the course aimed to develop the capacity of participants to identify the risks associated with data processing and to implement appropriate measures to prevent security incidents.
The importance of training lies in the essential role that data protection plays in ensuring respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of natural persons, especially the right to privacy. In the context of accelerated digitization and the increase in the volume of processed data, public institutions and organizations must pay more attention to compliance with legal norms, as well as the implementation of effective data protection mechanisms. Such initiatives contribute to increasing the level of institutional responsibility and strengthening public trust in how personal data are managed.
During the training, relevant topics were addressed such as: the basic principles of data protection, the legal grounds for processing, the rights of data subjects, the obligations of controllers and processors, technical and organizational security measures, as well as the management of security incidents and their notification.
The lessons learned by the participants mainly concerned the importance of integrating data protection into all institutional processes („privacy by design” and „privacy by default”), the need to document processing operations, as well as adopting a proactive approach in identifying and mitigating risks. Participants also became aware of each employee’s role in ensuring compliance and preventing possible data security breaches.
NCPDP reaffirms its openness to continue collaboration with national institutions, in order to develop professional skills in the field of personal data protection and promote good practices at the institutional level.
About 20 representatives from ISM participated in the event.
