Street action to inform and raise awareness of the general public on the field of personal data protection
On July 7, 2025, the National Center for Personal Data Protection (NCPDP) organized a street information and public awareness campaign, which aimed to promote the importance of personal data protection and cultivate responsible behavior regarding the use of this data.
The event took the form of an open dialogue with citizens, offering them the opportunity to ask questions and receive relevant information about their rights in terms of personal data protection, as well as about the risks associated with non-compliant data processing.
Through this initiative, organized in the context of the anniversary of 17 years of activity, NCPDP reaffirms its mission to contribute to the development of an institutional and social culture in which the right to privacy, guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, by national and European legislation, is aware of and known, respected and actively promoted in all areas of life.
The activity included: distribution of information materials on personal data protection; information actions carried out by representatives of the NCPDP; direct interactions with citizens to clarify specific situations regarding data processing; examples of good practices in the responsible use of personal data in the digital environment.
The aim of the street action is to bring the essential concepts of data protection closer to citizens, contributing to increasing their awareness of the notion of personal data, the rights of data subjects, data security and confidentiality measures, as well as the principles of personal data protection. At the same time, citizens were informed about possible situations of non-compliant processing of personal data, being provided with practical guidance and recommendations that should be undertaken in such cases.
Through this action, NCPDP aims not only to celebrate an important anniversary in the institution’s activity, but also to convey a clear message: the protection of personal data is a shared responsibility, which requires active involvement not only from the authorities/organizations, but also from each individual citizen.
In an era where digital technology is omnipresent and personal data circulates rapidly online and offline, education on its protection becomes essential. NCPDP will continue to conduct awareness campaigns, provide support to public and private institutions, and ensure compliance with the legal framework regarding the processing of personal data.
