Training Session in the field of personal data protection for representatives of the Southern Customs Office
On May 6, 2025, the National Centre for Personal Data Protection (NCPDP) organized a training session in the field of personal data protection for the employees of the Southern Customs Office, at the request of the Customs Service (CS).
The purpose of the training session was to raise awareness among Southern Customs Office staff regarding the principles of personal data protection, as well as to familiarize them with the confidentiality and security regime for personal data in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation.
The event addressed several key topics, such as: the definition of general concepts related to the field of personal data protection; the principles and legal grounds for personal data processing; the rights of data subjects; the processing of special categories of personal data; data protection obligations in the performance of official duties; ensuring the security and confidentiality of processed personal data; aspects related to the appointment of the Data Protection Officer (DPO); aspects related to the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA), etc.
The training proved to be interactive and informative, with participants actively engaging by asking multiple questions based on their professional responsibilities, which were answered with documented explanations and practical examples by the trainers.
In total, 39 customs officers from the Southern Customs Office took part in the event.
This training session forms part of the Customs Service’s 2025 training plan, approved and signed by the heads of NCPDP and CS on March 27 of the current year.
